Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls has been recognized as the best hole-in-the-wall diner in Texas by, a website dedicated to advertising high-quality products and services at budget-conscious rates.

The local favorite has been featured by before. It has been recognized on lists such as “Best All-Day Breakfast Spots in Every State” and “54 Under-the-Radar Restaurants with Amazing Homemade Pie.”

Owner Lindsay Plante said neither she nor her husband, David, sought out recognition from the site, making it even more special.

“It’s very exciting,” Plante said. “It’s always nice to be recognized for your hard work.”

Plante said the last year has brought about some “big changes” for the cafe as it adapted to the new normal introduced by the coronavirus pandemic.

Before last year, the cafe was cash only. Those without could use the in-house ATM machine to pay for their meal. The couple recently installed a new point-of-sale system for contactless checkout options to meet statewide COVID-19 protocols and remain open. They also began providing customers with curbside pickup services.

“There’s been a lot of tweaking and relearning, changing capacities and protocols,” Plante said. “Now, we’re coming full circle and there’s a hopeful feeling in the air.”
