There are so many fun things to do in Sarasota. But what are the essentials? We’ve spent recent weeks sharing our favorite places to visit in the area but for this week’s story we wanted to be more specific. Get down to the bucket-list essentials, for both longtime residents and newbies, as well as snowbirds and visitors. So, here it is. Five things every Sarasotan should eat, drink, read, watch and listen to at least once.
MENTION FROZEN pizza and most of us think of the utilitarian discs found in the supermarket freezer case, not wood-fired creations meticulously crafted by top pizzaioli. “If you would have told me [a year ago] I would be doing frozen pizza, I would have told you I have a bridge to sell you,” said Chris Bianco, chef-owner of Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, Ariz., credited with some of America’s best pies. But with his restaurants operating at half capacity during the pandemic, Mr. Bianco began supplementing earnings by freezing his celebrated pies and selling them nationally through the delivery site Goldbelly.

The most winning business of the year was Hays City Store, placing in 13 categories. They tallied eight first place scores, being voted for Best Atmosphere, Best Bloody Mary, Best Chicken Fried Steak, Best Family Dining, Best Margarita, Best Martini, Best Restaurant and Best Steak.

Mirazur, the French restaurant that was crowned the world’s best in Singapore back in 2019 is setting up a pop up experience for three months from 14 May-11 August 2021 at The Straits Clan.
The news is followed by the announcement that the private members club at Bukit Pasoh has been acquired by The Mandala Group. Restaurant Kin and Clan Cafe, which occupies the first floor of the space will close temporarily to make way for the pop-up.

The world’s best restaurant is coming to Singapore. This May, three-Michelin-starred Mirazur will run a three-month pop-up over at members club Straits Clan. The French restaurant is helmed by chef Mauro Colegreco, and is currently ranked first in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
From May 14 to August 11, the acclaimed restaurant will take over the space of Kin and Clan Cafe to serve up a six-course lunch ($388) or a nine-course dinner ($488).
Reservations for this limited-time dining experience will start on April 19 for club members, before opening up to the public on April 20.
To mark the reopening of restaurants offering outdoor dining, many chains are offering discounts and freebies to welcome back customers after a long lockdown.
Now we know it’s not summer yet, but us Brits are used to the cold, so grab your coat and head down to your favourite restaurants and pubs for a spot of al fresco dining.
