Savannah’s Food Co. now open

“Think farm to front door,” said Zach Thomason as he described his new home meal delivery service.

In March, Thomason and Brian Bazar launched Savannah’s Food Co. The new venture is a service that delivers chef-prepared meals to your front door. “Local ingredients & eclectic flavors” is their tagline.

Dishes like Moroccan Tagine Style Chicken, Saffron Citrus Salmon and Savory French Beef Stew are a handful of the entrees featured this past month.

Sandwiches, salads and even an extensive kid’s menu are part of the weekly offerings.

Thomason focuses on using locally grown ingredients when possible. Each order comes with a flyer highlighting the local sources used that week. Bluff City Fungi, Bonnie Blue Farm, Delta Grind Grits, Jones Orchard, Lucy J’s Bakery, Marmilu Farms, Old World Farms, Rhodes Farm and Whitton Farms were all featured on a recent menu.

The menu will change often based on seasonal ingredients.

The Moroccan Tagine Style Chicken order for one is a whole half-chicken with crispy skin and tender, juicy meat. Thomason uses local rice grits as the base instead of the traditional side of couscous.

“I thought to myself what mimics couscous,” said Thomason of his unique spin on this Moroccan specialty. “It makes for a cool soul food / Moroccan-inspired dish.”
