Jerzee’s Cafe in downtown Canton serves Dick’s famous coney sauce

CANTON — For years, I’ve been intrigued with the legend of the coney sauce once served at Dick’s Sandwich Shop at the former Arcade Market.

Long vanished are the market and eatery, both ghosts of Canton’s downtown past. Centennial Plaza is now in the vicinity of the market’s former spot.

Famed late Canton Repository writer Jim Hillibish wrote and reminisced about Dick’s coney sauce with a sense of mystique. Residents sent him what they claimed was the authentic recipe.

Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery is one of the oldest wineries in the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York.

It’s also one of the most recognized, having opened in 1979 on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake. By now, the fourth and fifth generations of the Wagner family are overseeing an operation that now includes the winery, a restaurant (The Ginny Lee Cafe) that opened in 1983 and a brewing operation that opened in 1997 (Wagner Valley Brewing Co.).

Saturn Cafe Closes Its Downtown Santa Cruz Location

If you’ve felt like the Covid-19 pandemic has done a number on businesses in downtown Santa Cruz, then prepare to see stars, because the latest casualty is out of this world.

Saturn Cafe, known for its all-vegetarian and vegan comfort food, announced on its Facebook page it will close its doors at the Laurel Street and Pacific Avenue location for good.

“Sadly, we will not be reopening our 145 Laurel Street location, which has been our home for over twenty years,” the post reads. “We will be relocating to our new neighborhood in Los Angeles.”
