20th Century Cafe, that grand cafe in Hayes Valley, announced that it will be serving the last of its many-layered desserts on good china and silver. Star pastry chef Michelle Polzine sent an email to customers this week, confirming the cafe will close permanently, winding down over the next two months. Saturn Cafe Closes Its Downtown Santa Cruz Location

If you’ve felt like the Covid-19 pandemic has done a number on businesses in downtown Santa Cruz, then prepare to see stars, because the latest casualty is out of this world. 

Saturn Cafe, known for its all-vegetarian and vegan comfort food, announced on its Facebook page it will close its doors at the Laurel Street and Pacific Avenue location for good. 

“Sadly, we will not be reopening our 145 Laurel Street location, which has been our home for over twenty years,” the post reads. “We will be relocating to our new neighborhood in Los Angeles.”

Team behind San Antonio’s best Mexican restaurant Mixtli closes Kumo near Olmos Park

In an Instagram post that reads like a bittersweet Valentine to a boxcar, chef Diego Galicia announced the closing of Kumo, the Mexican small-plates experiment he launched with fellow chef Rico Torres in November in the former railcar home of their groundbreaking progressive Mexican restaurant Mixtli near Olmos Park.
