Let’s Taco ‘Bout Lupita’s Authentic, Delicious State College Mexican Food

State College isn’t exactly known for being a Mexican food hub. But, Lupitas is a lesser-known authentic Mexican restaurant that is dangerously delicious.

Lupita’s can be easy to miss. It’s a small yet colorful storefront tucked in the corner of the Unimart off of West College Ave. and Whitehall Road, but it’s not the restaurant you want to be missing out on.

Lupita’s has been serving up authentic Mexican food in Happy Valley since 2019 thanks to owners Maria Guadalupe Rojas Orozco and Emilio Lopez Ramirez. It offers tacos with homemade corn tortillas, tostadas, tamales, quesadillas, and much, much more.

Jimmy’s in Wrightsville Beach lands on bracket for best college bar

First, it was a win against seven other Wilmington area bars. Then, Jimmy’s in Wrightsville Beach bested a regional bracket against such well-known spots as Player’s Retreat in Raleigh and Chapel Hill’s He’s Not Here.

Now, the local bar is going head-to-head against a bar representing Clemson University, the Tiger Town Tavern (or TTT). Voting began at 3 p.m. Monday and continues for 72 hours until organizers can tally votes on Twitter.

“If you have Twitter, vote #bestbarjimmys,” said owner Jimmy Gilleece. “If you don’t have Twitter, download it.”

With warmer weather returning to State College this week, and a wellness day Thursday, it is a great time to get outside and enjoy the sunshine.

For myself, I welcome the warmer weather returning, as the frigid wind chill and countless snow storms have forced me to remain inside my apartment for a bulk of this semester thus far.

With only so many places to go with cold weather (grocery store, library, etc.), I have gotten a little stir crazy in my bedroom.
