Bracket Challenge: The winner as the best takeout restaurant along the Wasatch Front is …

SALT LAKE CITY — After a few weeks of voting, and many local restaurants showcasing their best takeout options to Utahns, we finally have a winner … well, sort of.

Crown Burgers took an early lead over The Pie Pizzeria Friday before the pizza joint reigned supreme and claimed a 1,187 vote lead at midnight Friday after approximately 60,000 votes were cast — about the standard amount of votes cast in a day’s worth of voting. But that’s where the bracket challenge took a crazy turn and escalated into something more unreal.

Bracket Challenge: What is the best takeout restaurant along the Wasatch Front? Final round

SALT LAKE CITY — It all comes down to this: The Pie Pizzeria vs. Crown Burgers.

When you’re in need of local takeout food options are you going with a pizza or a burger. Neither is really a wrong choice, but unless you want two meals you have to eventually choose just one.

These mostly Salt Lake City-based establishments have been serving customers for years, satisfying the cravings (I’m sure many late-night ones, too) of all who enter.

Both are well-known establishments and beat out the likes of Cafe Rio (arguably the toughest and most recognizable competitor) and JCW’s by

Bracket Challenge: What is the best takeout restaurant along the Wasatch Front? Final Four round

SALT LAKE CITY — Everybody loves to root for the underdog, and it’s no different in the takeout bracket challenge.

That’s the case this week as all four No. 11 seeds advanced to the Final Four round, but all are anything but underdogs in the state of Utah. All four just happen to be the write-in restaurants to the bracket challenge, so apparently the people spoke and spoke loudly (and continued to vote).

For our final two matchups after approximately 200 local restaurants were recommended to KSL.com, we have Cafe Rio taking on The Pie Pizzeria, and JCW’s against Crown

Bracket Challenge: What is the best takeout restaurant along the Wasatch Front? Sweet 16 round

SALT LAKE CITY — It’s been a few days since our last round of the takeout bracket challenge, but we’re still here.

And just like the NCAA Tournament that began over the weekend, there’s been a few upsets depending on your favorite takeout restaurant — I’m still mad about Pretty Bird losing, but I’ll get over it with a chicken sandwich later.

Regardless of the results, we still like food over here at KSL.com and want to see which restaurant does takeout the best — admittedly, this has turned into more about your favorite local restaurants in general, but nobody’s

Bracket Challenge: What is the best takeout restaurant along the Wasatch Front? Round of 32

SALT LAKE CITY — As expected, the first round of the best takeout bracket challenge basically went to the higher-seeded restaurant — that is unless the restaurant was a No. 11 seed.

The No. 11 seed went to the write-in restaurants from Monday’s sorting and are arguably some of the more popular restaurants in the state, so it’s no real surprise they did well. Sorry to all the No. 6 seeds that were thrown into that mix against some heavy hitters — Sawadee is always a favorite of mine and I can never turn down good BBQ food from Bam
